Fishing in Waterton Lakes National Park

I have always been an avid fisherman and I have always enjoyed excellent fortune in the lakes in Waterton Park.  The local stores have good information and will be happy to supply you with flies that are likely to produce well in the high lakes.  I have seen people do well with spinners as well, but make sure that you consult the fishing regulations for the park as they are not the same as provincial regulations.  Be careful of time closures on high lakes and creeks.

Waterton Lake has fish of various types, but the most sought after is the lake trout.  It has been my experience that downrigger technology and a good sized boat is nearly essential to go after these lunkers.  The lake trout go to about 35 pounds.
